TC12 comes from fig-collector and researcher, Dato Syed Elias. TC12 is reported to be a favorite of Dato’s. The Portuguese fig is very productive. It is a common type, not requiring wasp pollination. The figs will ripen mid-season, and can dry on the tree. On the other hand, some have picked these figs at 50-60% ripeness to avoid competition with birds who also desire these tasty figs. Because of TC12’s high sugar content, people have enjoyed these figs even before they are fully ripe.
The skin is thin and good for eating. The leaves on these trees are equally appealing; the 5-lobed leaves have interesting wavy edges and short fingers. Inside TC12 you’ll find a rich red pulp. The pulp is extremely sweet and fragrant and said to have a unique aftertaste. It has a persimmon-like texture.

When do we ship cuttings?
Non-Rooted Cuttings(November/December):
We begin to ship cuttings once the trees are dormant and in a shippable state. Exact timing is weather dependent, but we usually start in November. Shipping continues throughout the winter and early spring. We stop shipping when the trees begin to break dormancy, normally around mid-March.
**All non-rooted cuttings ship between November and March regardless of the date selected during checkout. Orders placed during our pre-sale period(October/November) will ship out first in November/December. If you are rooting your cuttings in the spring, our cuttings can be kept in the refridgerator until you are ready to root them. They will be perfectly fine. That is what we do and they've turned into our most impressive trees.
Rooted Cuttings(Spring):
We begin shipping rooted cuttings once they are mature enough to ship. The shipping period typically begins late April and continues into June. Regardless of the date you select during checkout, we will ship when ready during that span. Please do not ask for ETA's or specific arrival dates. You will receive an email when your order ships with UPS Ground tracking details.
