The Nixon Peace fig is still considered very rare, with the highest concentration of growers currently in Arizona. It is said that this variety was given to President Nixon and his delegation when they visited China in 1972. There, Nixon engaged in historic peace talks with Mao Zedong, who gave the guests a fig cutting as a gesture of goodwill. It seems that many of the cuttings were lost or discarded, but the ones that were planted became known as the Nixon Peace Fig. The Chinese name of this variety is said to be Fujian Bai Mi. As with many varieties, there is nothing more than anecdotal evidence to prove that this is the same fig given by Mao Zedong.

When do we ship cuttings?
Non-Rooted Cuttings(November/December):
We begin to ship cuttings once the trees are dormant and in a shippable state. Exact timing is weather dependent, but we usually start in November. Shipping continues throughout the winter and early spring. We stop shipping when the trees begin to break dormancy, normally around mid-March.
**All non-rooted cuttings ship between November and March regardless of the date selected during checkout. Orders placed during our pre-sale period(October/November) will ship out first in November/December. If you are rooting your cuttings in the spring, our cuttings can be kept in the refridgerator until you are ready to root them. They will be perfectly fine. That is what we do and they've turned into our most impressive trees.
Rooted Cuttings(Spring):
We begin shipping rooted cuttings once they are mature enough to ship. The shipping period typically begins late April and continues into June. Regardless of the date you select during checkout, we will ship when ready during that span. Please do not ask for ETA's or specific arrival dates. You will receive an email when your order ships with UPS Ground tracking details.
