Details
Longshoreman Unknown's name comes from the long leaves and oblong fruits. We found this variety growing in an abandoned lot in Philadelphia. The figs are large with an outstanding flavor. If indeed this variety is similar to Brunswick, then it will share some of its characteristics such as Brunswick’s greenish-purple figs with pink and amber flesh. You may even see some striation on the figs’ exteriors. They usually have very tiny seeds, which leave little to no seed crunch, and an open eye. The leaves can have 5-7 lobes. Some have describes the flavor of Brunswick as golden melon with hints of honey.

When do we ship cuttings?
Non-Rooted Cuttings(November/December):
We begin to ship cuttings once the trees are dormant and in a shippable state. Exact timing is weather dependent, but we usually start in November. Shipping continues throughout the winter and early spring. We stop shipping when the trees begin to break dormancy, normally around mid-March.
**All non-rooted cuttings ship between November and March regardless of the date selected during checkout. Orders placed during our pre-sale period(October/November) will ship out first in November/December. If you are rooting your cuttings in the spring, our cuttings can be kept in the refridgerator until you are ready to root them. They will be perfectly fine. That is what we do and they've turned into our most impressive trees.
Rooted Cuttings(Spring):
We begin shipping rooted cuttings once they are mature enough to ship. The shipping period typically begins late April and continues into June. Regardless of the date you select during checkout, we will ship when ready during that span. Please do not ask for ETA's or specific arrival dates. You will receive an email when your order ships with UPS Ground tracking details.

It is said that Brunswick is a good choice for drier regions; however, Longshoreman Unknown has thrived in Philadelphia's natural climate with no grower-intervention or protection. One can control moisture to the plant by growing it in a container or growing it in an area of your garden with proper draining for rainwater. Add Longshoreman Unknown to your fig collection and try out this unique variety from Kremp Florist for yourself. Cuttings are available for shipping nationwide.
