LiVolsi Fig

SKU: FIG489
LiVolsi is a fig with a creamy banana flavor. It is one of the only varieties said to have this unique, sugary taste.
Option

The price is for one rooted cutting. We will ship once the cutting is mature enough to ship.

Matching the banana flavor is Livolsi’s yellow skin, which is thin and pleasant to eat. The pulp is a deep orange and brown color and has a nice creamy texture. LiVolsi is also known as a highly productive variety with a long harvest period. You can expect this tree to ripen its main crop around late July (depending on growing conditions) and continue to fruit through October. It is a common variety, not requiring wasp pollination, and the figs have closed eyes that provide good resistance to pests and mold. Livolsi trees will grow a combination of spade, 3-, and 5-lobed leaves. The leaves have very small serrations around the edges. LiVolsi comes from Sacred Origin, a fig discoverer and grower from Northern California. Sacred Origin is known for discovering wild seedling figs with standout flavors.

When do we ship cuttings?

Non-Rooted Cuttings(November/December):

We begin to ship cuttings once the trees are dormant and in a shippable state. Exact timing is weather dependent, but we usually start in November. Shipping continues throughout the winter and early spring. We stop shipping when the trees begin to break dormancy, normally around mid-March.

**All non-rooted cuttings ship between November and March regardless of the date selected during checkout. Orders placed during our pre-sale period(October/November) will ship out first in November/December. If you are rooting your cuttings in the spring, our cuttings can be kept in the refrigerator until you are ready to root them. They will be perfectly fine. That is what we do and they've turned into our most impressive trees.

Rooted Cuttings(Spring):

We begin shipping rooted cuttings once they are mature enough to ship. The shipping period typically begins late April and continues into June. Regardless of the date you select during checkout, we will ship when ready during that span. Please do not ask for ETA's or specific arrival dates. You will receive an email when your order ships with UPS Ground tracking details.

Substitutions may be necessary to ensure your arrangement or specialty gift is delivered in a timely manner. The utmost care and attention is given to your order to ensure that it is as similar as possible to the requested item.

Why do substitutions occur?

Occasionally, specific varieties of flowers or colors of a certain variety may be out of stock or not available.  There are hundreds of flower arrangements and bouquets shown on our website and unfortunately every flower in every color cannot be kept in stock at all times.  In the event that something is not available for your arrangement, the designer will select either the same flower in a similar color or another flower in the same color.  In all scenarios, the original style and color scheme will be followed as close as possible.

Flowers

In arrangements of assorted flowers, the colors shown online will be used if at all possible, even if this means substituting other kinds of flowers of equal or greater value.

  • For one-of-a-kind flower arrangements, such as all roses or all lilies, we will make every attempt to match the flower type, but may substitute with another color.
  • If the floral container shown online is not available, a similar container will be used.

Flowers shown on our website are in peak form with open blooms.  When delivered, it is common for flowers to be more closed or tight to ensure the recipient will be able to enjoy them for the full life of the flowers.  Please allow the blooms to open naturally.

Fig Cuttings

We do not substitute cutting orders. All orders for fig cuttings will be filled with the exact cuttings you select.

Containers & Vases

Just as all flowers are not always available, specific containers or unique vases may not always be in stock either.  This is most common during peak times such as holidays when containers often sell out.  If your selected container is not available, the designer will select a container that is as close as possible to your selected container.  If this occurs, it is common for the designer to add extra flowers to the bouquet as a courtesy since we had to make the substitution.  The end result is often a higher valued gift.

Stuffed Animals and Plush Gifts

Many of the stuffed animals we offer are items that are shipped direct to the recipient.  In the event that a plush animal is pictured with a floral arrangement/planter, the designer will select a plush animal as close as possible to the one pictured.  Since plush are constantly coming in and out of stock, your order will be filled as close as possible and filled to the same value.

Chocolates & Food Gifts

The edible items we use in our gift baskets and chocolate assortments are subject to availability.  The items pictured are a representation of what could be expected but those items are not guaranteed.  In the event that the pictured items are not available, we will substitute with other items that are the same or greater in value.  We will never reduce the total value of your selected item.

Balloons

  • Balloon styles vary.  The balloon bouquets shown on our website are a representation of what will arrive.  We do not guarantee the specific styles shown will be the ones delivered.  Colors and styles in any balloon bouquet including birthday balloon deliveries may vary. But no matter the celebration, we will always select the correc theme; happy birthday balloon arrangements will always be sent to celebrate a birthday, get well balloons for appropriate occasions, and so forth.

Plants

  • For green and blooming plants, similar plants may be substituted of equal or greater value.
  • For one-of-a-kind plants, such as orchids, we will make every attempt to match the plant type, but may substitute with another variety.
  • If the plant container shown online is not available, a similar container will be used.

Product Availability, Local Pricing & Distant Delivery Charges

  • The products shown on our website represent what we have available in our local area.  If the order is to a town outside our local area, we must rely on our fulfillment centers in those areas to have product as close as possible.  Since we cannot control the product inventory in those facilities, we cannot guarantee all products are available for delivery to all areas.  The designer will fill the order as close as possible with the product available locally.
  • The pricing shown is based on the cost for flowers, plants, containers and materials in our local area.  Costs can vary in different parts of the country and outside the US.  If the fulfillment center has a higher cost for certain products or services, we will reach out to you with options.  In all scenarios, we will offer you the lowest possible price.
  • In the rare scenario that your order is being delivered to a distant area with little to no delivery coverage, we may require a price increase to cover the added delivery expense.  Since every area and scenario is unique, the charge depends on several variables.  We will contact you in advance for your approval.

Orders Being Delivered to Hawaii, Guam, Puerto Rico, Virgin Islands and Internationally

  • Flower, container and labor costs outside the continental US can vary greatly.  These orders will be filled to value as close as possible to item selected.  Stem count and overall design is subject to change due to local styles, trends and availability.  Please know that substitution is common to these areas.  We cannot guarantee the item delivered will match the exact container or flowers shown in the picture.
  • Funeral deliveries going to areas outside the US are delivered per the local traditions. Some areas have funerals that last all day or multiple days. It is common for flower deliveries to arrive throughout the services as the family mourns. In all scenarios, we will respectfully deliver per the funeral director's instructions.
  • Due to time zones, some areas may need to substitute in order to deliver on the requested date(Guam is almost a full day ahead of time zones in the US).

APO Address Deliveries

  • Some military bases are located in remote locations that can only be delivered to via USPS.  In these cases, we recommend non-perishable gifts only.  We will contact you if the base you are sending to falls into this scenario.  When shopping for something to an APO address, we recommend browsing our Gifts to APO Addresses section.

Need some Help?

Is this available for same day delivery?

Most products on our website are available for same day delivery. Depending upon the location of the recipient, we can determine the first available delivery date. Please type in the recipient zip code and click continue. You can then see the first available delivery date on the calendar. Note- last minute holiday periods like Valentine's Day and Mother's Day, same day delivery may not be available to areas that are no longer guaranteed for the holiday.

Do you deliver on weekends?

Yes we do! Our drivers are out on the road 7 days a week. If your order is going outside our local delivery area, Sunday delivery may not be available. We always check with all delivery options including other florists to ensure we get your order delivered as quickly as possible.

Can I request a specific delivery time?

Requests are perfectly fine. We have a special instructions field during checkout where you can make requests like this. Please note- while we do our best to fulfill all requests, we cannot guarantee that all requests are doable. Due to this, time requests are not guaranteed.

How far in advance should I place my order to ensure timely delivery?

Ordering a few days in advance is always appreciated. This is mainly so we can ensure we have the product. This allows us to special order in certain flowers or plants if available. During major holidays like Valentine's Day and Mother's Day, we recommend ordering as early as possible. It may sound extreme but ordering a week in advance of these holidays is your best bet since most florists cut-off and no longer guarantee holiday delivery a few days before the holiday. It is better to be safe than sorry!

When checking out, please type "ANONYMOUS DELIVERY PLEASE." If the recipient calls us, we will not reveal any of your information without your approval.

How can I track my order?

Your order confirmation email includes a link to check the status of your order. Depending upon the delivery method, some deliveries are confirmed earlier than others. We provide tracking details for all orders shipped via Fedex, UPS and USPS. In all scenarios, please use the link in your order confirmation email for updates.

Can fig trees be grown in containers?

Yes, absolutely. Fig trees can do very well in containers. The biggest advantage is that the trees can be moved indoors in areas of the country that experience harsh winters.

How often do I water my fig tree?

Water well when the top 1–2 inches of soil are dry. This can be checked by simply sticking your finger into the soil. Avoid overwatering as fig trees prefer slightly dry conditions between watering.

Can fig trees survive winter in colder climates?

While some fig varieties are cold-hardy, most fig varieties benefit from winter protection in colder climates. Container trees can be moved indoors or into a garage during freezing temperatures.

How do I keep figs from being eaten by bugs?

An easy solution is to use mesh netting or small mesh bags to protect ripening fruit. Keep the area clean of fallen figs, and monitor for pests. Organic sprays can help if insect pressure becomes an issue.

How much sunlight do fig trees need?

Fig trees love full sun, ideally 6–8 hours of direct sunlight per day. This will help your trees produce the best growth and fruit production.

How soon will my fig tree produce fruit?

Some rooted cuttings can produce fruit in their first year with most providing fruit the 2nd season. Non-rooted cuttings may take a bit longer as they first need to establish roots.

How do I know when figs are ripe and ready to eat?

Ripe figs will feel very soft and droop slightly on the branch. You may see a slight split or sugar drop at the bottom. This is common. The simple test is to lift the fruit gently. If it plucks off the stem easily, it is ripe.
