Eves Black Cherry Fig
Eve’s Black Cherry is a green fig with dark red pulp. The drop shaped figs have marked ribbing on the skin. The skin is soft and sweet and just right for eating. The large figs have a meaty texture and unique flavoring. Inside, the figs are jammy and rich with a strong berry flavor. They have a tight eye that prevents spoilage from pests. Eve’s Black Cherry produces both a breba and a main crop and is known as a productive variety.

Eve’s Black Cherry was discovered decades ago on a northern California ranch. Horticulturist, John Valenzuela, found the large tree growing untended along a fence line while he tended the property of the elderly owner, Evelyn “Eve” Diamond. The tree growing near Black Point, Novato in Marin County in northern California surely would have come into contact with the fig wasp. However growers have since successfully pollinated Eve’s Black Cherry in many locations throughout the US. Luckily, Valenzuela of Cornucopia Food Forest Gardens, shared his find in a scion exchange with his local horticulture society, which lead to many people being able to enjoy Eve’s Black Cherry today.

When do we ship cuttings?
Non-Rooted Cuttings(November/December):
We begin to ship cuttings once the trees are dormant and in a shippable state. Exact timing is weather dependent, but we usually start in November. Shipping continues throughout the winter and early spring. We stop shipping when the trees begin to break dormancy, normally around mid-March.
**All non-rooted cuttings ship between November and March regardless of the date selected during checkout. Orders placed during our pre-sale period(October/November) will ship out first in November/December. If you are rooting your cuttings in the spring, our cuttings can be kept in the refridgerator until you are ready to root them. They will be perfectly fine. That is what we do and they've turned into our most impressive trees.
Rooted Cuttings(Spring):
We begin shipping rooted cuttings once they are mature enough to ship. The shipping period typically begins late April and continues into June. Regardless of the date you select during checkout, we will ship when ready during that span. Please do not ask for ETA's or specific arrival dates. You will receive an email when your order ships with UPS Ground tracking details.
