PRESS RELEASE:  Kremp Florist of Willow Grove, PA, has been named the recipient of the fourth annual Retail Florist of the Year Award, sponsored by the Wholesale Florist & Florist Supplier Association (WF&FSA) and Florists’ Review magazine. The winner and three finalists were announced at the WF&FSA Annual Convention & Floral EXPO in Lake Buena Vista, FL.

Scott Kremp, the company’s president, was honored during the Association’s Annual Business meeting. He received a keepsake plaque and a check for $1,000 presented by Wanda Weder, outgoing WF&FSA president, and Frances Dudley, president of Florists’ Review. Kremp also received an all-expenses-paid trip to Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort to accept the award.

Delaware Valley Wholesale Florist in Sewell, NJ, nominated Kremp Florist and endorsed its entry in the contest. To be eligible, all contest participants must be endorsed by a WF&FSA-member wholesale florist.

Each participating retail florist, representing many states across the country, was judged on these criteria: visual merchandising, store design and image, advertising and promotions, flower variety and quality, customer service, employee benefits and training, non-floral product lines, business achievement, floral industry involvement and community involvement.

“Particularly impressive to me is the way that Kremp Florist has harnessed the marketing power of the word ‘free,’” said Talmage McLaurin, publisher of Florists’ Review and one of the contest’s judges. “Coupons for free mums, free summer bouquets, free geranium plants – some with and some without additional purchase – are promoted regularly. Obviously Kremp Florist has figured out how to get and keep customers,” he added, referring to the company’s motto, “Get and Keep Customers.”

In addition to McLaurin, the contest judges were David Coake, editorial director for Florists’ Review; Billy Hardin, president of Hardin’s Wholesale Florist, Inc.; Spiro Palmer, owner of Palmer Flowers & Decorating Gallery, the 2005 contest winner; and Wanda Weder, senior executive vice president of Highland Supply Company.

Kremp Florist’s main showroom and design center located on Davisville Road in Willow Grove for 50 years, is proud of its long standing community relationship, and in 2004 completed a major renovation to its over 20,000 square foot facility.

“In an era where more and more retailers offer identical selections, we have dedicated ourselves to creating a truly unique shopping experience for our customers” says Scott Kremp. “The Retail Florist of the Year award shows that our industry peers agree with our direction. We will continue to seek out the most impressive flowers and gifts to keep our customers- both those who have been visting us for years, and those who stop in for the first time- excited about shopping at Kremp Florist.”
