Stratford’s Funny Figurines
Warren Stratford set out with the goal to make recipients of his figurines smile by highlighting the humor in their occupations and everyday lives. He designs his statues with exaggerated proportions that mimic the caricatures you can find at a fair or amusement park. Some of the figures feature larger than life smiles, hair, feet, or even stomachs! The bobble head Stratford created for Jay Leno was a natural match for the artist’s exaggerated style with Leno’s famous chin and hairdo. Not surprisingly, art has been a lifelong passion of Warren Stratford’s. According to his website, he has incorporated his unique sense of humor into his work for as long as he can remember. Designing his first magazine cover while in high school was a memorable moment in the artist’s life—and he didn’t stop there. In the 80s, he worked as a character designer, animator, illustrator, and storyboard artist in Canada, Japan, Taiwan, and China. The influence of these formative years in illustration is apparent in his work today. His original art has been featured in galleries around the world. Stratford currently resides in Asia, and frequently travels.
