Sending Flowers to “the First State”

Delaware’s blue and gold license plates bear the state’s nickname “the First State.” Many people know that Delaware earned this name by being the first state to ratify the U.S. Constitution on December 7th, 1787. But did you know that it was Mrs. Anabelle O’Malley’s first grade class at Mt. Pleasant Elementary School that requested the state take on the moniker officially? The first graders got their wish and the rest is history.

“Firsts” are always a time to celebrate. A few ideas to celebrate your family and loved ones’ firsts include:

  • First Wedding Anniversary. They’ve made it through one year of marriage! For many couples this may be an easy task, but it is still worth the celebration. Think back to the couple’s big day. Did they use soft pink roses in the bride’s bouquet? Sending an arrangement of roses in a similar hue will harken back to the best day of their lives.
  • First Day of School. This is a big deal, as it may be the little one’s first time away from family members for an extended period of time. A bud vase arrangement with Gerber daisies will bring cheer and color to a child who might have some doubts about her new adventure. A small teddy bear can be attached to the vase—the bear can even go to school, too.
  • First Holy Communion. This occasion has long been celebrated with a dainty floral crown. To keep it traditional, send a floral crown of delicate white blooms such as spray roses and baby’s breath. For a more contemporary look, add color and amp up the greenery, which will give the crown a wildflower appearance.
  • First House. Moving into a first home likely means a living room covered in boxes. Sending a flower arrangement to the new homeowner may make the space more personal and inviting while they get their belongings back in order.

Another Nickname: “The Diamond State”

While most know Delaware by its other nickname, Thomas Jefferson reportedly also dubbed Delaware “the Diamond State.” According to the Delaware Historical Society, Jefferson considered Delaware to be a “jewel” because of its strategic location along the Eastern Seaboard. To symbolize this name, customers can send:

  • Bling-Filled Corsages. Corsages are the traditional gift given to a girl going to prom or even a mother on Mother’s Day. For the woman who loves a little sparkle, choose faux diamond rhinestones or colorful faux rubies to accent delicate corsage flowers such as spray roses and alstromeria.
  • Diamond Anniversary Bouquets. Diamond is the symbol of the 60th wedding anniversary. To celebrate this milestone, order a monochromatic flower arrangement designed in a vase with diamond ribbon wrap. Additionally, diamante pins can be added to the centers of each flower for extra shine.

Whether looking to celebrate firsts or send some sparkle, customers rely on Kremp Florist for flower delivery service to Delaware. Contact the florist to schedule delivery by phone or online.
